Streetfighter Power

It started life as the power behind the CBR1000RR, so you know the new CB1000SP’s 999 cc four-cylinder engine delivers spirited performance right across the rev range. To give it true streetfighter character, engineers modified the pistons, altered valve timing and lift, designed a new airbox, and more — all with the aim of improving midrange power. The result? An engine with a powerful performance that’s also plenty capable of being an everyday ride in the city, and a whole lot of fun on tight, twisty backroads.

Thrilling Performance

With a fully fuelled weight of just 212 kg (467 lb), the math adds up to a thrilling power-to-weight ratio.

Variable Exhaust Valve

To further broaden the engine’s powerband, a bypass valve inside the muffler optimizes exhaust pressure based on engine revs, restricting exhaust flow below 5,700 rpm, and then opening above that point to allow the engine to breathe and exhale deeply, and rev quickly to its 11,000 rpm power peak.

Instant Acceleration

Arm-stretching acceleration is one of the key attractions of a big-bore streetfighter, and the CB1000SP does acceleration like few bikes out there. One of the ways Honda engineers boosted the SP’s go-power was by altering the gear ratios in the CBR-based six-speed manual transmission, with lower ratios in the bottom gears and a tall final gear that’s ideal for highway cruising. And use the clutch for upshifts, thanks to the built-in quickshifter that eliminates the need to use the clutch for anything other than starting and stopping. It even works with the throttle-by-wire system to “blip” the throttle during downshifts.

Slipper/Assist Clutch

The engine’s slipper/assist clutch provides two key benefits to improve performance, safety, and rider confidence. First, the “slipper” function helps to mitigate rear-wheel hopping caused by rapid engine braking while downshifting. And second, the “assist” function reduces the effort required to operate the clutch lever. Together, this technology helps to lessen fatigue while in stop-and-go traffic, while also reducing the risk of rear-tire lockup for extra rider reassurance during spirited riding.

Adjustable Riding Modes

No two riders feel the exact same way about how their bike should perform, so the CB1000SP’s Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) lets you customize a wide array of settings to perfectly suit your riding style or the road conditions. Select between Standard, Rain, and Sport mode — or one of two user-customizable modes — to modify power delivery, engine braking, wheelie control, and traction control.

2025 Honda CB1000SP ABSMass-Forward Geometry

The twin-spar steel frame provides a rigid foundation to support the engine and suspension, while its mass-forward geometry creates a sensible riding position that’s sporty yet relaxed. The mostly flat seat lets you sit forward and more upright while navigating through the city, or stretch out and crouch down in a more aggressive posture on a twisty road.

2025 Honda CB1000SP ABSPremium Suspension

As befits a premium Honda SP model, the CB1000SP boasts top-shelf suspension components front and rear. The Showa SFF-BP (Separate Function front Fork - Big Piston) 41 mm inverted fork uses a damping mechanism in one leg and only a spring in the other leg, which reduces sliding resistance and weight. And of course It’s fully adjustable for damping and spring preload. At the back you’ll find a fully adjustable Öhlins TTX 36 shock, connected via Pro-Link to a gravity-die-cast aluminum swingarm with an asymmetrical gull-wing shape to keep the exhaust system tucked in tightly. Superbike-spec stuff all around.

2025 Honda CB1000SP ABSUpgraded Brakes

The braking system, too, is a step above the norm: a pair of lightweight radial-mounted Brembo STYLEMA® calipers operated by a radial-piston master cylinder squeeze 310 mm floating rotors at the front, with a compact Nissin caliper at the back.

2025 Honda CB1000SP ABSLightweight Wheels

To keep crucial unsprung weight as low as possible, the CB1000SP shares its five-spoke wheel design with the CBR1000RR-R. They look barely there, yet are plenty sturdy enough to handle the SP’s impressive power.
